Landscape Construction Foreman
Reports to: Operation Manager
A self-motivated Foreman that can direct others to perform their tasks with clear direction and timely outcomes.
Job Purpose
Landscape Construction Foreman are responsible for the construction of residential and commercial landscape projects. Manage and perform the execution of landscape construction projects, involving the planning and supervising of labour, equipment and material requirements and ensuring the completion of job(s) within project deadlines and budget.
The Landscape Construction Foreman must be energetic, physically fit, customer oriented and have extensive experience in the landscaping and construction industry with a strong understanding of industry trends and best practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
Completed installation of landscape projects with a minimum yearly revenue volume of $600,000
Manage Jobsite Production
- Define the scope of the project in collaboration with the Operation Manager designer/estimator and orient themselves and crew with the job site as well as the safety procedures and hazards of a job site
- Create a detailed work plan with the Operations Manager which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project. Ensure that the “Installation Process” is followed
- Determine the resources (time, materials, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project. on a daily and weekly basis
- Prepare for weekly Foreman meetings with Operations Manager reviewing progress and setting daily and weekly goals
- Supervise, coordinate, and schedule the day-to-day work activities of a landscape construction crew of 3 to 5 employees
- Achieve revenue and production targets
- Manage labour hours as per job planner / estimate, minimizing labour hour overages
- Manage & track material quantities (Material Tracking Data Sheet) and costs to minimize material surplus and or waste
- Order Materials using PO system – Po # acquired through Ops manager or Office Manager
- Site organization, safety and cleanliness
- Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to ensuring landscape design is followed and overall design goals are achieved
- Perform all tasks required to complete a landscape project including natural and block retaining walls, paving stone installations and paver edging, irrigation design and rebuild, plant and garden bed layouts, low voltage lighting, water features, rock placement, large tree plantings and other aspects of landscaping.
- Quality Control
- Ensure “Best Practices” are being followed to all aspects of the landscape to ensure high quality of service is being provided. Attention to DETAIL is what makes us stand out from others
- Ensure all Paperwork from the field is handed in daily and placed in a file folder located in the Sea Can or handed to Operations manager.
- Work with contractors, sub- contractors, engineers, and designers/architects
- Ensure the jobsite, new landscape and neighbouring properties are perfectly clean
Employee Management
- Ensure all crew members hours for each task are actively being tracked using the LMN app
- Continuously train and help improve employee performance regarding safety procedures, safe operation of equipment and installation procedures using Best Practices
- Inform management of any discrepancies regarding employee capabilities
- Assist with the on-boarding process of new employees
- Comply with all company policies and follow company systems to achieve success
Trucks Trailers and Equipment
- Keep all Tool trailers are clean and organized (5S’s)
- Trucks are washed and inside wiped clean once per month and truck boxes are empty and the inside is free of garbage daily
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
- Equipment, skidstears, excavators daily maintenance procedures are followed, and forms filled out
- Report any damage and equipment failures and or take in to be repaired
Customer Service
- Be friendly and courteous at all times
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Horticultural Diploma a valuable asset Horticultural background and /or certification
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, class 3 an asset
- First Aid certified
- Speak, read, and write English
Specialized Knowledge:Knowledge of plants, irrigation and equipment
Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the landscape/construction industry
- Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Time management skills
- Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail, organized
- Supervisory skills of a minimum of three people
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices

Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform a long list of physical work and lift 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the work shift
- Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions, cold temperatures for extended periods perhaps, as well as being in hot temperatures. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent stamina is required
- Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
- Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work
